The Canada Chapter is proud to launch the TTRA Lifetime Contribution Award to recognize an individual whose outstanding scientific contributions to travel and tourism research have substantially enhanced the stature of the Canada Chapter and its members. It is most fitting that J.R. Brent Ritchie, who himself has contributed so much to our research community, as author, professor, leader, and mentor to so many, known not only for his works, but for his generous sharing of knowledge, be the sponsor of this prestigious award.
Dr. Ritchie holds the Professorship in Tourism Management in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, as well as the Chair of the University’s World Tourism Education and Research Centre. He also serves on the Editorial Review Boards of numerous leading journals, is co-author of four books, has published extensively in top tourism journals, and actively contributes to research initiatives locally, nationally and internationally. His vision for the award is to recognize someone whose dedication and service to the Chapter have been uniquely invaluable and lasting in nature. “I would like the Award to recognize individuals whose contributions to tourism research, over his or her lifetime, have been so significant and substantial, that they bring international recognition to the Canada Chapter and its members”, states Brent. “I believe we should recognize these individuals.”
The award will be presented in Edmonton at the 2016 TTRA Canada Conference. If you know a deserving individual for this award, please submit your written nomination to TTRA Canada Chapter Awards Coordinator, Elizabeth Halpenny by May 31st, 2016.
